As it has been said since the Edo period, “The Lord of Saiki holds sway even in the harbor,” Saiki is blessed with the rich gifts of nature nurtured by the Hyuga-nada Sea, the Bungo Channel, and the Saiki Bay, where the renowned and pristine Bansho River flows into. We have been walking alongside local producers and customers in Saiki, Oita Prefecture’s leading fisheries city, for 119 years since our founding.

We transitioned from a wholesale business in marine products, inherited from previous generations, to a retail business. With the advancement of freezing technology, we can now deliver “the finest marine products” to customers, a long-held wish of our producers. While passing down the blessings and wisdom of the sea to the next generation, we are committed to flexibly embracing new technologies and ideas. We also aim to share the charm of Saiki and the local flavors with people across the country.

Company History	In 1902 (Meiji 35), the founder, Taisuke Nishida, established the company as a marine products wholesaler. From the Taisho to early Showa periods, it operated as “Nishida Shoten,” collecting dried sardines, dried whitebait, and dried fish from Saiki Bay and nearby ports, and distributing them to wholesalers across Kyushu, the Seto Inland Sea, and the Keihanshin area. In 1941 (Showa 16), due to wartime regulations, Nishida Shoten was reorganized into the Saiki Branch of the Oita Prefecture Marine Products Association. Afterward, it became Saiki Marine Products Distribution Co., Ltd., and immediately after the war, Saiki Marine Products Co., Ltd. was established. In 1950 (Showa 25), the company was renamed to its current name, Saiki Marine Products Co., Ltd. The second-generation president was Zenichi Nishida, and the current president is the third generation.
